How-To Make Dried Orange Slices

Equipment
- Sharp Knife
- Cutting Board
- Dehydrator or Oven
- Non-stick cooking spray (optional)
Materials
- Oranges
Instructions
- Wash and dry the oranges:Rinse the oranges under running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. This will remove any dirt or debris that may be on the surface of the fruit.
- Cut the oranges into slices: Using a sharp knife and a cutting board, carefully cut the oranges into slices that are about 1/4 inch thick. Try to cut the slices as evenly as possible so that they will dehydrate evenly.
- Remove the seeds: Carefully remove any seeds that you find in the orangeslices. This will help to prevent the seeds from burning during the dehydrationprocess.
- Arrange the orange slices on the dehydrator trays: Place the orange slices on the trays of your dehydrator or oven, making sure to leave enough space between the slices for air to circulate.
- Dehydrate the oranges:Set the dehydrator or oven to a low temperature (around 145 degrees Fahrenheit)and dehydrate the oranges until they are dry and leathery. This can take several hours, depending on the thickness of the slices and the humidity of your environment.
- Store the dehydrated oranges: Once the oranges are fully dehydrated, remove them from the dehydrator and let them cool completely. Store the dehydrated oranges in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, where they will keep for several months.
